Spain-Turkey competition in occupancy

Package tour competitors of Mediterranean tourism, Spain and Turkey, are recovering fast in 2022. While the hotel occupancy rates of the two countries increased, Turkey reached the 2019 level in March. In this period, Spain is still below 2019.

Spain and Turkey hotel occupancy

In March 2022, the occupancy rate in Spanish hotels was 46.8%. The occupancy rate in the country in 2019 was 58.5%. During this period, the occupancy rate in Turkey’s hotels was 39.6%. The occupancy rate in 2019 was 40.2%.

Antalya and Balearic hotel occupancy

On the other hand, the occupancy rate of Balearic hotels, which compete with Antalya, was 46.5% in March. In 2019, the occupancy rate was 49.2%. During this period, the occupancy rate in Antalya hotels was 35.1%. The occupancy rate in 2019 was 36.7%.
